I don’t sing because I’m happy; I’m happy because I sing.

Have you ever heard of the World Choir Games? Well, learning about it just might make you worldlier and an impressive dinner guest. The World Choir Games are the Olympics of choral music – held every two years, it’s the largest international choral competition in the world. This year marks the 7th World Choir Games, and it’s being held in the United States for the FIRST time!

Something like this is probably taking place in New York or California or somewhere in the big state of Texas, right? Actually, it’s happening in the good ole Midwest – in TRS’s neighboring city of Cincinnati, Ohio.

This year the World Choir Games will use volunteers in the true sense of the word. And they need a lot of volunteers – over 4,000 to be exact! This isn’t your run of the mill volunteer event either, they have multiple venues, various jobs arranged under different committees, two full weeks of competition, and just to throw a kink in things, week one is different than week two…need I say more? Talk about complexity! But never fear, with a few tweaks here and there, the TRS team made it happen for them.

If you’re thinking that you’d love to volunteer, you’ll have to wait a couple of years – they had a huge outpour of volunteers who filled their shifts within a few days of opening registration! Whew – talk about community support of this great one-of-a-kind event! But I suggest you check it out nonetheless – you want to be in the know, worldly and impressive, don’t you?  World Choir Games – http://2012worldchoirgames.com/
